Itinerary

On this day you will arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport where our driver will meet you outside the arrivals hall and usher you into an awaiting transfer car that is private for you and your travel companions. You will be transferred to a hotel in Arusha if you would fancy staying in the base town for climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.

Elevation: 1,860m/6,102ft to 2,720m/8,923ft. Distance: 8 km/5 miles. Hiking Time: 4-5 hours. Habitat: Rainforest. Activities: Drive to Marangu Gate for registration, then begin the trek through the lush rainforest to Mandara Hut. Optionally, visit Maundi Crater for a view of the surrounding area.

Elevation: 2,720m/8,923ft to 3,720m/12,205ft. Distance: 12 km/7 miles. Hiking Time: 6-8 hours. Habitat: Heathland. Activities: Continue through the rainforest, transitioning to heathland. Enjoy stunning views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks.

Elevation: 3,720m/12,205ft to 4,000m/13,123ft and back to 3,720m/12,205ft. Distance: 5 km/3 miles. Hiking Time: 3-4 hours. Habitat: Heathland. Activities: Take a short hike to Zebra Rocks or Mawenzi Ridge for acclimatization and return to Horombo Hut. This day helps your body adjust to the altitude.

Elevation: 3,720m/12,205ft to 4,703m/15,430ft. Distance: 10 km/6 miles. Hiking Time: 6-8 hours. Habitat: Alpine Desert. Activities: Trek through the alpine desert, passing the last water point at the base of the Kibo crater. Reach Kibo Hut and rest before the summit attempt.

Elevation: 4,703m/15,430ft to 5,895m/19,341ft (summit) then descend to 3,720m/12,205ft. Distance: 6 km/4 miles ascent, 15 km/9 miles descent. Hiking Time: 6-8 hours ascent, 4-5 hours descent. Habitat: Arctic, then Alpine Desert. Activities: Begin the summit trek around midnight, reaching Gilman's Point and then Uhuru Peak for sunrise. After celebrating at the summit, descend to Kibo Hut for a short rest and then continue to Horombo Hut.

Elevation: 3,720m/12,205ft to 1,860m/6,102ft. Distance: 20 km/12 miles. Hiking Time: 6-7 hours. Habitat: Heathland, then Rainforest. Activities: Descend through the heathland and rainforest to Marangu Gate. Receive your summit certificates and transfer to your hotel Arusha.

Today marks the start of your wildlife safari adventure. Departing from Arusha after breakfast, you'll journey to Tarangire National Park, renowned for its large elephant herds, ancient baobab trees, and diverse wildlife. Enjoy a full-day game drive, exploring the park's varied landscapes and spotting wildlife in their natural habitat. A picnic lunch amidst the park's beauty adds to the adventure before settling in at a lodge or campsite for the night

Wake up to the sounds of nature in Tarangire before embarking on a morning game drive through Lake Manyara National Park. This park is famous for its tree-climbing lions and flocks of flamingos that grace the shores of its namesake lake. After the game drive, continue your journey to the Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area, where you'll ascend to the crater rim for breathtaking views and an overnight stay at a lodge or campsite.

The best months to climb are June to October and January to March, when weather conditions are dry, skies are clear, and the trails are more stable.

Depending on the chosen route, climbs take 5 to 9 days. The Lemosho Route is typically done in 8 days to ensure better acclimatization and a higher summit success rate.

Altitude sickness is possible due to the high elevation. The Lemosho Route helps reduce this risk with gradual elevation gain and proper acclimatization. Your PackGoSafari guides are trained to monitor symptoms and assist if needed.

No prior climbing experience is necessary, but a reasonable level of fitness and mental preparation are important. Regular hiking and cardio training before your trip are highly recommended.

Yes. All climbers must have valid Kilimanjaro National Park permits, which are included in your PackGoSafari tour cost.

You’ll stay in tented camps equipped with comfortable sleeping tents, dining tents, and private toilet tents. All camping equipment is set up and managed by the PackGoSafari mountain crew.
