Entry rules vary by nationality and can change, so always confirm them on the official government website for each country you will visit.
Before you apply
- Check that your passport will stay valid for at least six months after you arrive.
- Make sure it has blank pages for stamps.
- Apply early, because online approvals can take time.
By country
- Tanzania: many travellers apply for an e-visa through the official immigration website.
- Kenya: most visitors apply online for an Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA).
- Uganda: many visitors apply for an e-visa through the official immigration portal.
Visiting more than one country
The East Africa Tourist Visa covers Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda. It does not cover Tanzania, so a Tanzania trip needs its own visa. If you are combining countries, tell us your route and we can help you work out what to check.
