Good to know

1. What is the difference between gorilla trekking and gorilla habituation?
Gorilla trekking allows visitors to spend one hour with a fully habituated gorilla family, while gorilla habituation offers up to four hours with a semi-habituated group, making it a more immersive and educational experience.
2. How physically demanding is the gorilla habituation experience?
The activity can be moderately to highly demanding, depending on the gorillas’ location. Trails may require hiking through dense vegetation and steep terrain, but rangers guide you throughout, and porters are available for support.
3. What should I pack for this safari?
Essential items include sturdy hiking boots, long-sleeved shirts, waterproof clothing, insect repellent, gloves for gripping vegetation, a hat, sunscreen, and a reusable water bottle.
4. Is it safe to be near the gorillas?
Yes. The experience is guided by professional rangers and researchers who understand gorilla behavior deeply. Safety briefings are provided before the trek to ensure responsible and secure interactions.
5. Can this safari be combined with other Ugandan wildlife tours?
Absolutely. Many visitors choose to extend their trip with safaris in Queen Elizabeth, Murchison Falls, or chimpanzee tracking in Kibale. Extensions can be arranged based on your preferences.
